Marshall Jefferson features in BBC’s house music documentary “Can You Feel It – How Dance Music Conquered the World”
House music mastermind Marshall Jefferson has featured in a new BBC documentary on the rise of dance music. The three-part programme, next airing on BBC Four on Friday 21st September, features interviews with a star-studded cast of legends from dance music’s history: Nicky Siano, Frankie Knuckles, Juan Atkins, Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk, Derrick May, Pete Tong, David Guetta and more.

The first edition of the documentary focuses on the iconic 4/4 beat, following it “its disco origins through remix culture to house, techno, acid house and the current EDM explosion.” Episode two will focus on “the most important cultural entertainment space of the last thirty years – the club” while the final part will examine the “extraordinary story of the DJ.”

Long-time MN2S affiliate Marshall Jefferson appears in the first episode, speaking of the influence of Frankie Knuckles on the genre: “my take on house music is this: house music is what Frankie Knuckles played at the warehouse.” Marshall’s all-time classic track ‘Move Your Body (The House Music Anthem)’ also features in the programme.
