Karl Lokko delivered a powerful speech to internal Disney EMEA employees that covered his journey from gang leader to activist, touching on highly topical subjects surrounding World Mental Health Awareness Day and the Black Lives Matter movement. A passionate speaker with a rare ability to connect with audiences on a human level, Lokko is one of Britain’s most inspiring voices.
A former gang leader, Lokko grew up on the Myatts Field estate, witnessing his first shooting at age 12. After the intervention of an anti-youth violence project turned him on to a diffferent path, Lokko underwent a radical transformation that has led him to become one of the country’s most successful campaigners for change. Fighting to advance social justice, he supports rehabilitation and reformation through community work, activism and public speaking.
