The UK charity has created and shared a variety of resources as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity, has created guides to support organisations, managers, freelancers and general employees working within electronic music. They have also announced a new podcast, Mind x Music, which will be live-streamed on the 15th of June. The podcast will feature a host of panellists including Help Musicians’ head of health and welfare Joe Hastings and co-authors of “Can Music Make You Sick? Music and Depression” Sally Anne Gross and Dr. George Musgrave.
Mind has conducted research that suggests musicians could be up to three times more likely to suffer from depression than the general public. Factors that contribute to this could include insecure income, difficulties in work/life balance, lack of sleep and access to drugs and alcohol. Their four new guides provide vital information on how those working within the industry can be supported to have good mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
