Independents Day is one of the main events that form part of Independent Venue Week, “a seven-day celebration of small music venues around the country”.
Two members of our dedicated programming department are heading to Independents Day, a gathering of agents, promoters, venue owners and other industry figures that includes panel discussions and networking opportunities. As part of Independent Venue Week, the event seeks to celebrate the spirit of independence and the culture of live music, allowing those involved in the industry to share knowledge, forge connections and support independent venues in the process.
“Independents Day was a fantastic opportunity to connect with those involved in booking, promoting and running smaller independent venues, which remain an essential part of the UK’s live music economy.”
Tom Hasson, MN2S Programming Department
As described on their website, “Independent Venue Week is a week-long celebration of small music venues across the country, and a nod to the people that own, run and work in them, week in, week out. These venues give artists their first experience of playing live in front of an audience and for fans, somewhere to get up close to artists that one day, may well be playing stadiums and festival main stages. They also provide a vital place for local communities to engage with arts locally.”
Supported using public funding by Arts Council England in the UK and also the wider music industry and brands globally, Independent Venue Week brings together these venues along with breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and tastemakers.
