Law firm to host conversation with legendary rapper and filmmaker about his incredible career journey to date.
In celebration of Black History Month, MN2S have paired British multinational law firm Clifford Chance with inspirational London-born rapper and filmmaker Andrew Onwubolu, MBE — aka Rapman — for an “in conversation” event.
The theme of this year’s Black History Month in the UK is “Reclaiming Narratives”. Clifford Chance are thrilled that their UK Race, Equality, and Celebrating Heritage (REACH) Network will be joined by Onwubolu to discuss how he continues to reclaim narratives in his own work. They’ll be talking about his breakthrough YouTube series, Shiro’s Story, BAFTA-winning debut feature film, Blue Story, and his groundbreaking new sci-fi series for Netflix, Supacell. They’ll also be exploring how he works to help empower other emerging young black creatives.
This “in conversation” event was facilitated by MN2S. We’re proud to help support Black History Month and are always committed to strengthening our allyship with marginalised communities. If you’re looking for innovative ways to partner your company or brand with diverse talent, reach out to us today and start a conversation of your own.
Supacell is particularly resonant for Black History Month 2024, as it tells the tale of five seemingly ordinary black-British Londoners who develop superpowers because their families have a history of sickle cell disease.
The series shot to the top of Netflix’s global Top 10 when it dropped in June, and it has gained praise for its realistic portrayal of the black-British experience and for raising awareness of sickle cell, a potentially serious disease unfortunately common in people of African or Caribbean heritage.
Clifford Chance can’t wait to sit down with Onwubolu and ask him about his influential work, his route to the top, and why he decided to make sickle cell a superpower.
