Printworks team to open new 3000 capacity venue - Magazine London | News | MN2S Talent

The reinvigoration of London’s club scene is set to continue in 2019 with the opening of a new purpose-built South London venue, Magazine London.

The multi-purpose space, located in Greenwich, will hold 3000 visitors and is intended to be used for parties, exhibitions, conferences, concerts and other events. Construction on the building, which was designed by the architect studio Nissen Richards, will begin in December with a view to open Magazine London in summer 2019.

Magazine London is a project from the team behind Canada Water’s mega-venue Printworks, The Vibration Group’s Venue Lab. The group also intend to build an adjacent 7000-capacity outdoor events and festival site, The Showground, nearby on the Greenwich Peninsula, forming a combined 10,000 capacity area which will host festivals and outdoor gigs. Information has not yet been shared on Magazine’s opening hours and license.

Vibration Group CEO Simon Tracey has said: “London is still very much at the forefront of live events globally and Magazine, with it’s incredible flexibility both indoor and out, is ground breaking.”

International property and investment company Knight Dragon are partly funding the venture. CEO Richard Margree said: “Magazine London fits superbly with what we’re doing on Greenwich Peninsula — creating a new London underpinned by creativity, a community with culture and entertainment at its heart

Shapes collective certainly are leading the curve in London

In August, Shapes Collective opened FOLD, a new 600-capacity, 24-hour venue in Canning Town. Openings like these are a welcome sign of regeneration, bringing much-needed life to London’s ailing nightclub scene, which has seen the number of clubs in the capital fall dramatically over the last decade. The decline of London’s night-time economy remains a hotly contested issue, but Magazine’s 2019 opening is a promising sign of transformation.

If you’re fighting the good fight to revitalise London’s clubbing scene and opening up a new venue we may be able to help draw in some acts, check out the MN2S Rosters and the MN2S Programming services.
