In another addition to an ongoing series of recipes created for GQ Online, Ruby Bhogal has dreamed up a mouth-watering take on fried chicken that would be equally enjoyable consumed as a dinner-party centrepiece or on the sofa watching Bake Off. Passionately declaring her love of fried chicken, Ruby admits that “no matter how many times I declare that I am going to start being healthier, make better food choices, be a bit more conscious of what I am fuelling my body with, if anyone comes round with the hint, smell or offer of fried chicken, I am right there like a hoover.”

Marinaded in buttermilk, creole spice, garlic powder and oregano, her take on fried chicken is coated in a flour and spice mix and then sizzled in vegetable oil until it’s perfectly brown. Ruby recommends eating the results in a brioche bun to maximise enjoyment.
