The actor was booked through MN2S to speak at a virtual event for Hampton University entitled “Deeply Rooted: Cultivating the Power of Your Authenticity.”
Presented by Hampton University’s Student Counselling Center, “Deeply Rooted” took place on January 27th, featuring a virtual talk delivered by Michael Rainey Jr. The actor spoke to the Student Counseling Center about the power of authenticity, and how students can integrate this authenticity into their own lives. He also spoke on the importance of mental health, and how vulnerability and authenticity intersect with our mental wellness. Michael Rainey Jr. is best known for his role as Tariq St. Patrick on the popular television series Power. He has also starred in the spin-off series Power Book II: Ghost, and made appearances in Hollywood movies such as 211 and Amateur.

Speaking about the booking, Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey remarked: ““The inaugural Deeply Rooted virtual event that the Student Counseling Center hosted last year was very successful. We are happy that Mr. Michael Rainey Jr. will be able to converse with our Hampton students about how important mental health is, especially in the Black community.”
