In a third brush with failure, Flair was in a serious plane accident aged just 26. Doctors told him he would never fight again, but despite breaking his back in three places, he was wrestling again just six months later.

Fame and fortune followed including sixteen world titles and the title of, ‘Professional Wrestling Illustrated Wrestler of the Year’ a record six time, more than any other athlete. He appeared regularly for the WWE and his flamboyant style ensured that he found plenty of fans the world over.

Now signed to the WWE legends programme, Flair continues to coach wrestling and act as an advocate and spokesperson for the sport.
