Spanish DJ, producer and label boss Cristian Varela has a massive discography, with more than 150 productions and compositions for the most prestigious international labels including majors like Sony/BMG, UK outlet Toolroom, John Digweed’s internationally recognised Bedrock and Carl Cox’s Intec, plus MB Elektronics and his very own label Pornographic Recordings. Over the years he has been at the very heart of electronic music, evolving the genre in his own unique way with consistently high quality releases.
His productions have found favour with media empires like MTV, VIVA and more. Over the past quarter of a century he has also become known as one of Spain’s most important musical exports. What’s more, Varela has a background as a classical composer and arranger. He has been composing music for film, theatre, commercials and shows since 1986 and this true musical skill often washes over into his slicker than average electronic offerings. As a DJ who won the 2013 DJ Award for Best Techno DJ, he is naturally very at home in the booth. He often plays sets off of three or four decks around the world everywhere from Japan to the U.S.A, Europe, UK and even further afield. A regular at Vista Club at Privilege, Ibiza, Varela has a list of awards and accolades almost as long as his discography.
