Lord Aswod, known professionally as DJ Lord, was born on March 11, 1975, in Savannah, Georgia. He established a reputation as a highly skilled DJ and turntablist early in his career, marked by numerous victories in competitive battle circuits. In 1999, DJ Lord achieved a significant career milestone when he joined the influential hip-hop group Public Enemy, replacing their original DJ, Terminator X. His integration into the group coincided with their 40th World Tour, where he quickly became an integral part of their live performances and recording efforts. His unique style, characterized by precision cuts and multi-genre mixing, has been a consistent feature throughout his work.
Beyond Public Enemy, DJ Lord has maintained a diverse and active career. He has toured and performed as a solo artist and collaborated with other musicians, including Flavor Flav’s solo projects and the art exhibition Arts, Beats + Lyrics. His versatility extends to rock acts like Confrontation Camp and the TrillBass project. He also contributed significantly as a member of Prophets of Rage. From 2019 onwards, he has regularly toured and performed with the hip-hop group Cypress Hill, further expanding his collaborative catalog.
