With a career spanning nearly two decades, Fernando Noriega is one of Mexico’s leading actors who has starred in numerous television and film roles. With parts as varied as the main villain in Venezuelan soap opera Dulce Amargo to his appearance in the music video for Do It Again with Norwegian musical duo Royksopp and pop sensation Robyn, Noriega has proven himself as one of Latin America’s most versatile stars.
Born in Leon, Mexico, Noriega made his stage debut in the play Born on the Margin in 1999. After appearing in several television commercials, he began to win starring roles in numerous telenovelas on TV Azteca, including Machos, Enamórate, Amor en custodia, Top models and Se Busca un hombre.
In 2009 Noriega starred in the Mexican television series Glam Girls playing Santiago Lombardi and also appeared in Mun Chee Young’s film Where the road meets the sun, before moving to Venezuela three years later to portray villain Diego Piquer in the soap opera Dulce Amargo for network Televen.
Noriega’s career continued to soar in the late 2000’s with roles including Willy in Bajo el Mismo Cielo and Eutimio “Rojo” Flores in El Chema, a role he reprised in Mexican crime series El Señor de los Cielos. After twenty years of leading roles and memorable performances, Noriega’s acting career continues to go from strength to strength.
