Jerry Ropero

Jerry Ropero, born on May 11, 1971, in Antwerp, Belgium, as Jerry Ropero Verlackt, is a Belgian Spanish house music DJ and producer, publisher, and composer. His musical heritage includes being the son of Francisco Ropero Gomez, known as Paco Paco, who achieved a worldwide hit in 1973 with “Taka Taka Tá”. His grandfather was Belgian jazz musician Al Verlane. Ropero’s career began in the 1990s in Belgium, where he joined the group Natural Born Grooves. He also released his first two tracks under his own name, “All Over” and “Driver,” in 1996. His early mainstream success came in 1999 with the track “Get Down,” released with DJ Maui and Terri Bjerre as part of the group Avant Garde, which reached position 12 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart and remained there for 13 weeks.

Following his work with Avant Garde, Ropero continued to release music under his own name through various labels such as Positiva and Joia. He also became known for his remixing work for artists like Danzel, Paps ‘n’ Skar, and Kate Ryan. Much of his mainstream success in this period stemmed from collaborations with German-born DJ/producer Denis The Menace. Together, under various aliases including Michael Simon, JR & DTM, Avalanche, and Clubworxx, they produced original material such as “Coração,” “Mombasa,” and “Time 2 Turn Around.” Their tracks have been featured on compilations released by prominent labels like Ministry of Sound and Hed Kandi.

Currently based in Hamburg, Germany, Jerry Ropero has achieved numerous hits and worldwide chart placements throughout his career. His influence extends across continents, performing in locations such as Ibiza, Miami, Dubai, Bogotá, Manila, and Toronto. Ropero is recognized for blending creativity with technology, and he is exploring the future of the music industry through AI.
