Todd Terry

Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Todd Terry has been instrumental in defining the New York house scene and the global development of house and rave music since the 1980s. Terry began his professional career by debuting as Masters at Work with the 12-inch ‘Alright Alright’ in 1987. The same year, he contributed to the Chicago house vanguard compilation Jackmaster 1. His productions, characterized by an extensive use of samples blending classic disco, Chicago house, and hip-hop influences, quickly gained international traction.

Expanding his entrepreneurial footprint, Terry launched his independent record label, InHouse Records, in 1999, followed by SoundDesign Records in 2000. These labels have since featured a diverse catalog of artists and tracks spanning house and harder electronic styles, reflecting his eclectic taste and influence. In 1999, he released the album ‘Resolutions’ on Astralwerks Records. He later formed the Todd Terry All Stars in 2007, a collaborative project featuring esteemed artists such as Kenny Dope and DJ Sneak, further showcasing his collaborative spirit and enduring network within the industry.

In 2013, Terry released the album ‘Todd Terry vs. That Trap Shitt’ on Tommy Boy Entertainment, demonstrating his continued artistic evolution. As an American DJ, record producer, and remixer, Terry continues to shape the electronic music landscape. His ongoing management of InHouse Records and SoundDesign Records ensures a consistent output of innovative music, while his extensive discography remains a foundational pillar for contemporary DJs and producers worldwide.
