Alex Varkatzas

Alex Varkatzas is a musician known for his work as the former lead vocalist of the metalcore band Atreyu and as a member of Dead Icarus and I Am War. After co-founding the metalcore band Atreyu in 1998, Alex Varkatzas went on to establish a significant presence in the genre as its lead vocalist. Under his leadership, Atreyu independently released ‘Visions’ in 1998, followed by the critically acclaimed EP ‘Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty’ in 2001, which led to a pivotal signing with Victory Records. The band’s official debut album, ‘Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses,’ was released in 2002.

Dead Icarus quickly made their mark with the release of their debut single ‘Sellout’ in August 2023, following their signing with MNRK Heavy. The band further demonstrated their evolving sound with the release of the EP ‘Ad Infernum’ in March 2024. Most recently, Dead Icarus released their highly anticipated debut studio album, ‘ZEALOT,’ in October 2024, continuing Varkatzas’s legacy of impactful contributions to heavy music.
