Alexis Jordan rose to prominence as a contestant on America's Got Talent and later achieved international chart success with her music.

Alexis Jordan was the first artist signed to StarRoc/Roc Nation, a joint label by Norwegian production team Stargate and American rapper Jay-Z. She appreciates Jay-Z's approach of allowing her own decisions.
Alexis Jordan was born on April 7, 1992, in Columbia, South Carolina. She began writing songs at an early age and moved to Santa Clarita, California, with her family at age 11 to pursue a career in the arts. By age 12, Jordan was performing as an opening act for Smokey Robinson at a Stevie Wonder tribute concert, demonstrating early musical talent. Her initial public exposure came in 2006 when she auditioned for the first season of America’s Got Talent at 14, performing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” Although she was eliminated in the semifinals, her appearance on the show established her presence in the entertainment industry.
Following her time on America’s Got Talent, Jordan and her family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to be closer to the music industry. During this period, she started uploading cover songs to YouTube, where her videos garnered millions of views. This online visibility attracted the attention of Norwegian production team Stargate and American rapper Jay-Z. This led to her signing with their joint venture label, StarRoc/Roc Nation. Her self-titled debut album, “Alexis Jordan,” was released on February 25, 2011. The album featured collaborations with Stargate, Sandy Vee, Nightwatch, and Espionage. It debuted at number nine in the UK, number eleven in Australia, and number twenty-eight in Ireland.
Her debut single, “Happiness,” released in September 2010, achieved significant international success, reaching number one in the Netherlands and Norway, and becoming a top-three hit in Australia and the United Kingdom. It also sampled the Deadmau5 track “Brazil (2nd Edit)” and topped the Hot Dance Club Songs chart in the United States. Her second single, “Good Girl,” released in February 2011, also performed well, reaching number six on the UK Singles Chart and number fifteen in Ireland, and becoming her second number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Jordan further expanded her reach through collaborations, notably featuring on Sean Paul’s “Got 2 Luv U,” which topped charts in Switzerland and Bulgaria.
