About

Christopher Alan Young, born on June 12, 1985, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, developed an early interest in music. He participated in various children’s theater productions and sang in his high school choir at Oakland High School. His musical journey continued with jazz training and six years of classical voice lessons, which helped refine his vocal abilities. During his youth, his grandfather, Richard Yates, performed on the Louisiana Hayride. While attending college, Young maintained an active touring schedule, performing over 150 shows annually, further honing his stage presence and craft.

In 2006, Chris Young gained significant recognition by winning season four of the reality singing competition program “Nashville Star.” This victory led to a contract with RCA Records Nashville, and he released his self-titled debut album the same year. The album featured singles “Drinkin’ Me Lonely” and “You’re Gonna Love Me.” His career progressed steadily with his second album, “The Man I Want to Be,” which was released in 2009 and produced three number one singles: “Voices,” “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),” and the title track. Young continued to achieve commercial success with his third album, “Neon” (2011), which added two more number one hits, “Tomorrow” and “You,” along with the top 5 hit “I Can Take It from There.

Over the years, Young consistently released successful albums, including “A.M.” (2013), “I’m Comin’ Over” (2015), “It Must Be Christmas” (2016), “Losing Sleep” (2017), “Famous Friends” (2021), and “Young Love & Saturday Nights” (2024). A significant milestone in his career was his induction into the Grand Ole Opry on October 17, 2017, a testament to his impact on country music. In December 2024, Young announced a new record deal with Black River Entertainment, marking a new chapter in his musical career, with his tenth album, “I Didn’t Come Here to Leave,” scheduled for release in October 2025.
