Alpha Wolf, an Australian metalcore band formed in 2013, originated from Burnie, Tasmania, and now resides in Melbourne. The band, known for its intense sound and emotional lyrics, was founded by bassist John Arnold, who drew inspiration for their name from the film “The Grey.” Their debut EP, “Origin,” released in June 2014, set the stage for their first studio album, “Mono,” which debuted at number 29 on the ARIA Albums Chart in July 2017. The album’s themes of trauma and depression resonated with fans, showcasing their raw and honest songwriting.

The journey of Alpha Wolf has not been without challenges. In February 2018, the band faced a significant change when lead vocalist Aidan Ellaz was ejected due to serious allegations. This pivotal moment led to the introduction of new members Lochie Keogh and Mitch Fogarty, who helped the band navigate through this turbulent period. Their resilience was evident in the release of the “Fault EP” in April 2019, where guitarist Sabian Lynch emphasized the importance of embracing mistakes and personal growth.

Alpha Wolf continued to evolve, releasing their second studio album, “A Quiet Place to Die,” in September 2020, further solidifying their place in the metalcore scene. The band’s latest EP, “Shh,” released in March 2023, and the single “Sucks 2 Suck” featuring Ice-T, demonstrate their ongoing creativity and relevance in the industry.
