You could argue that Army of Lovers were the original Swedish House Mafia: formed way back in 1987, the group that today consists of Alexander Bard, Jean-Pierre Barda and Dominika Peczynski had a number of Europe-wide hits during the nineties. These include ‘Crucified’ – which was re-released and chosen as the official anthem for Copenhagen Pride in 2013 – as well as multi-million selling albums and compilations. As live performers they are energetic and mesmerising; unpredictable and always memorable.
Notable for their off the wall appearance, high camp music videos and pop/dance/disco musical fusions, the group reformed in 2012 and seemingly picked up where they left off. Their latest album Big Battle of Egos has again charted in Europe whilst the band’s singles continue to pick up worldwide radio plays. Continuing to play live around the world and turn heads with their socially and politically charged lyrics, Army of Lovers declare themselves as concerned with ‘liberty, equality and sexuality’ and spread that message in their own much loved and hugely passionate way.
