Ash the Author is a hip-hop soul artist originating from Chicago, now residing in San Diego’s North County. He is recognized for his distinctive style which combines insightful, thought-provoking lyrics with jazz-infused, soulful, and melodic musical backdrops. Ash has established a significant presence in the San Diego music scene through his performances and curated shows at various venues including The Salk Institute, Quartyard, The Casbah, and numerous Sofar Shows. His live performances are noted for their engaging quality, consistently inspiring audiences and affirming the credibility of San Diego’s music scene.

A notable milestone in Ash the Author’s career includes a live performance on Shade 45’s Sway in the Morning, where he was lauded by Sway and Heather B as “an incredible lyricist.” This appearance garnered him wider recognition beyond his local base. Ash the Author also released his second full-length album, “NOW U SEE ME,” an album he describes as “pure hip hop alchemy” with several featured artists like Apollo, Premo the Great, Seefor Yourself, Katriz Trinidad, JR JARRIS, L Martin, Adam Flowers, Ric Scales, Kahlee, and B-Rell. He has also released a clothing line featuring products like the ‘I’M NOT CRAZY’ OVERSIZE FADED PREMIUM TEE, ‘PARTY&BULLSH*T ORGANIC OVERSIZED TEE, and ‘NOW U SEE ME’ LONG SLEEVE TEE. These ventures demonstrate his expanding artistic expression beyond music.

Ash has performed at a diverse range of shows, from intimate Sofar Sounds events in various San Diego locations to larger festivals like the LA County Fair – Pomona Poetry and Music Festival. He has also been involved in community events such as THE MUSE SD – Black History Month Edition at Quartyard SD and album listening parties for “NOW U SEE ME” at the Broker’s Art Gallery in Gaslamp San Diego. He has collaborated with various local talents including Seefor Yourself, MF DOMO, The Guest Room, Ronny Quest, DJ Root, Ric Scales, Rys the Neighbor, ALPHA, Derrick Goldsmith, Sir Karri, and Blanco Slim, enhancing the vibrancy of the San Diego music community.
