Lebanese superstar Assi El Hallani is a globally recognised singer, actor and composer famous for hits including ‘Wani Mareq Mareet’ and ‘Habibi’. Since first rising to prominence after winning Studio Al Fan at the age of 17, he has released more than 23 albums and performed around the world at locations including the Albert Hall in London, the Opera House in Cairo, MGM Las Vegas, Palais des Congres in Paris, Carthage Festival in Tunisia and the Opera House in Marbella. The multi-talented star was also a popular coach on MBC Studio Beirut’s The Voice and has appeared in numerous theatre productions across the globe.
Hallani is a prolific songwriter and has won numerous awards and accolades for his work, including an Honorary Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, several Murex d’Or awards, and the Cairo International Festival for Radio and TV award for the best Arabic song for ‘Mali Sabr’.
Born in Baalbek, Lebanon, Hallani began studying music when he was 16 years old in Beirut, focusing on Arab and Oud techniques. The singing sensation had already started to sing frequently in his home city when he took part in the popular TV show Studio El Fann in 1988. A year later he dropped his first album under the name Baytik Qasr, and in 1991 followed with Mahlana Sawa. More than 23 albums later Hallani is as popular ever and has also become well known for his humanitarian work, including fundraising concerts to help fight poverty. Hallani received a nomination as a goodwill ambassador for the UNDP (LiveLebanon program) in recognition of his humanitarian efforts.
