Bella White

Isabel Farley White, known professionally as Bella White, was born on July 15, 2000, in Calgary, Alberta. Her exposure to traditional music began early, influenced by her father, a Virginia native who played in bluegrass bands. Around the age of 12, White started playing banjo and guitar, performing at family gatherings and open mic sessions. After graduating high school in 2018, she relocated from Calgary to Boston to further her musical pursuits and songwriting. This period marked the beginning of her career in Americana and bluegrass music.

White released her debut album, “Just Like Leaving,” independently in 2020. This album, recorded in Vermont and produced by Patrick M’Gonigle, garnered critical acclaim, with Rolling Stone noting her songwriting as “sublime Appalachian heartbreak.” The album was subsequently reissued by Rounder Records in 2021, solidifying her presence in the music industry. Her career continued to progress with the release of her second album, “Among Other Things,” in 2023. This album was produced by Jonathan Wilson at Fivestar Studios in Topanga, California, and also released through Rounder Records, receiving positive reviews from various music publications.

In 2023, White made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry, a significant milestone in her career. The same year, her song “Burn Me Once” was featured on “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” soundtrack, released by Geffen Records. In 2024, she released the EP “Five for Silver,” a collection of cover songs. Throughout her career, she has performed at major music festivals, including the Newport Folk Festival and Stagecoach Festival, and has supported artists such as Band of Horses, John Craigie, The Paper Kites, Sierra Ferrell, and The Milk Carton Kids. Her third full-length album, “A Sign In The Weather,” was released in 2026, further showcasing her evolving artistry and lyrical depth.
