Black Stone Cherry

Black Stone Cherry formed in Edmonton, Kentucky, in 2001. The band consists of Chris Robertson (vocals, guitar), Ben Wells (guitar), John Fred Young (drums), and Steve Jewell (bass). The original lineup included Jon Lawhon on bass, who departed in 2021. The band began playing music together in their teens, utilizing a practice space previously used by The Kentucky Headhunters. They quickly built a local following by performing in clubs. Their debut self-titled album was released in May 2006, leading to a homecoming gig in their hometown that drew 1500 people.

Over two decades, Black Stone Cherry has established itself in the rock music scene. They were initially signed to Roadrunner Records until 2015, then moved to Mascot Label Group. The band has released eight studio albums, two EPs, and charted seventeen singles on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Notable album releases include “Folklore and Superstition” (2008), “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” (2011), “Magic Mountain” (2014), which reached number five in the UK albums chart, and “Kentucky” (2016), their second consecutive #1 album on the Billboard Hard Rock albums chart. Their most recent album, “Screamin’ at the Sky,” was released in 2023.

The band has supported major acts like Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Nickelback, Alter Bridge, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, and Shinedown on various tours. They have also headlined numerous tours and performed at large festivals, including the Download Festival in 2008 and as main support to Guns N’ Roses in 2018. Their 2020 album, “The Human Condition,” marked their sixth consecutive No. 1 debut on the UK Rock Albums chart, with the lead single “Again” becoming their biggest single in over a decade in America, peaking at No. 15. In 2021, they performed at the Royal Albert Hall, documented in their 2022 live DVD, “Live From The Royal Albert Hall…Y’All.”
