Brother Ali

Brother Ali launched his prolific professional recording career with the release of his critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Rites of Passage,’ in 2000 under Rhymesayers Entertainment. This initial success set the stage for a career marked by deeply personal narratives and social commentary, leading to the release of eight albums and several EPs. He followed with ‘Shadows on the Sun’ in 2003, and gained significant attention for ‘The Undisputed Truth’ in 2007, an album lauded for its critique of the United States political system. His expanding discography continued with ‘Us’ in 2009.

His work garnered features in prestigious publications like Rolling Stone and Source Magazine, and he made notable television appearances on ‘The Late Late Show’ (2007), ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’ (2007), and ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ (2009), further solidifying his presence in popular culture. Beyond his musical accomplishments, Brother Ali is a recognized activist and community leader, frequently addressing racial inequality and government critique. This commitment led to notable incidents, including a money transfer to his record label being frozen by the Department of Homeland Security in 2007 following the release of his ‘Uncle Sam Goddamn’ music video. In 2012, he was arrested for civil disobedience during an Occupy protest, drawing national attention to housing foreclosure issues.

Maintaining a consistent release schedule, Brother Ali put out ‘Brother Minutester, Vol 1’ in 2021.
