MF Robots, co-founded by Jan Kincaid and Dawn Joseph, performs a blend of soul, funk, and jazz, building on their foundations from the Brand New Heavies. After vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Dawn Joseph joined the iconic Brand New Heavies in 2013, her immediate and profound creative synergy with original drummer, songwriter, and producer Jan Kincaid laid the foundation for a dynamic new musical venture. Kincaid, widely recognized as a primary architect behind the Brand New Heavies’ distinctive sound for decades, found an ideal collaborative partner in Joseph, who herself brought a rich performance history including vocal contributions for acclaimed artists such as Kylie Minogue, Michael McDonald, and CeeLo Green. Their collaboration swiftly led to extensive songwriting, culminating in their decision to depart the Brand New Heavies following the release of the album Sweet Freaks and form the independent soul, funk, and jazz ensemble, MF Robots.

Through MF Robots, they have successfully transitioned from their prior engagements to a platform where their unique collaborative output and dynamic live presence take center stage.
