Chris Lane

Christopher Eric Lane was born on November 9, 1984, in Kernersville, North Carolina. He grew up with his twin brother, Cory, and both pursued football and baseball, playing collegiately at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Lane’s path to music began after sports injuries impacted his baseball career, leading him to learn the guitar. He started a cover band in his hometown, performing at local venues, and in 2007, he and his brother auditioned for *American Idol* but did not advance. A pivotal moment in 2008 came when a high school friend introduced him to Seth England of Big Loud Mountain, a connection that helped launch his music career. He later relocated to Nashville in 2013 to further his musical aspirations.

Before embarking on a solo career, Lane fronted the Chris Lane Band, whose album *Let’s Ride* charted on *Billboard*’s Top Country Albums in 2012. He gained significant exposure opening for established acts such as The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Lee Brice, Chris Young, Brantley Gilbert, and Florida Georgia Line on their 2014 “This Is How We Roll Tour.” His debut solo single, “Broken Windshield View,” was released in 2014 and quickly gained traction, selling 11,000 downloads in its first week and reaching number 45 on the *Billboard* Hot Country Songs chart. This early success laid the groundwork for his breakthrough.

Lane’s career progressed with the release of his debut album, *Girl Problems*, in August 2016, featuring the hit singles “Fix” and “For Her.” His second album, *Laps Around the Sun* (2018), included the successful tracks “Take Back Home Girl” (with Tori Kelly) and “I Don’t Know About You.” In 2019, “Big, Big Plans” became his third number one on the *Billboard* Country Airplay chart. After parting ways with Big Loud, Lane demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by signing a joint venture in 2023 with his own imprint, Voyager Records, and Red Street Records, releasing “Find Another Bar” as his first single under this new arrangement. He continues to actively record and perform, with an upcoming album, *Shade Tree*, slated for release in 2025.
