CNCO was an American Latin boy band that made a significant impact on the music scene from their formation in 2015 until their disbandment in 2023. The group, consisting of Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Christopher Vélez, Zabdiel De Jesús, and former member Joel Pimentel, rose to fame after winning the first season of La Banda, a televised singing competition produced by Ricky Martin. Their victory secured them a five-year recording contract with Sony Music Latin, setting the stage for their successful career.
The band’s debut single, “Tan Fácil,” released in January 2016, quickly climbed the charts, peaking at number one on the Latin Airplay chart. Their first album, “Primera Cita,” released on August 26, 2016, featured the hit “Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos),” which further solidified their popularity. CNCO’s energetic performances and catchy songs earned them a dedicated fanbase, known as “CNCOwners,” and they toured with renowned artists like Ricky Martin, showcasing their talent on stages across the U.S. and Latin America.
In 2018, CNCO released their self-titled second studio album, which included popular singles such as “Hey DJ” and “Mamita.” Their music consistently topped the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, demonstrating their commercial success. The band continued to innovate with their 2020 album “Déjà Vu,” a visual cover album of Latin pop classics, and their final studio album “XOXO,” released in August 2022, which featured collaborations with other artists.
After announcing their breakup in July 2022, CNCO continued to perform together for a year and a half, culminating in their final single “La Ultima Canción” in May 2023. Their journey from a competition-winning group to a celebrated Latin music phenomenon showcases their remarkable talent and dedication to their craft, leaving a lasting legacy in the music industry.
