About

Coasts formed in Bristol, England, in 2011. The band consisted of Chris Caines (vocals), Liam Willford (guitar), James Gamage (bass), David Goulbourn (keyboards), and Ben Street (drums). The members met while attending university in Bath before relocating to Bristol, where they officially established the band. They spent the initial period writing and rehearsing, making their live debut in 2012. That same year, Coasts released their debut single, “Stay,” which received radio support from Huw Stephens.

Throughout 2013, Coasts continued to expand their touring across the UK and Europe, participating in industry events such as Brighton’s Great Escape Music Festival. Their third single, “Oceans,” released in June 2014, received support from BBC Radio 1 DJs Greg James and Huw Stephens. The band performed a live session at Maida Vale for Huw Stephens and appeared at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow. In December 2014, Coasts performed “A Rush of Blood,” “Oceans,” and “Let Go” on “Made in Chelsea.” They signed record deals with Warner Records in the United Kingdom and Capitol Records in the United States in late 2014.

Coasts embarked on a North American tour in early 2015, including an appearance at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles. They headlined London’s Scala and KOKO and performed at major festivals such as Coachella, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza. Their debut album, “Coasts,” released in January 2016, reached number 38 on the UK charts. The band supported the album with tours across the US and Europe. In August 2017, they released their second album, “This Life Vol.1,” which charted at number 17 in the UK. A subsequent 38-date UK tour followed the album’s release. In 2018, Coasts undertook a world tour with The Hunna, followed by a sold-out UK tour concluding at Kentish Town Forum in London. On August 9, 2018, the band announced their disbandment via social media, with their final show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on October 28, 2018. They reunited once in 2019 to headline the Jurassic Fields festival in Bridport, UK.
