Known by his stage name as Common, Lonnie Rashid Lynn is a famous American rapper, actor and also writer. Lynn Lynn first released an album in 1992, titled Can I Borrow a Dollar? and it reached a lot of praise. Lynn also released another album shortly after having released his first album, titled Resurrection. By collaborating with Soulquarians, Lynn was able to reach mainstream success. Lynn’s first album with a major-label was Like Water for Chocolate, which he released in 2000. This album brought Lynn so much commercial success. Following his success, Lynn collaborated with Erykah Badu on the single Love of My Life, for which he won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. Lynn was also nominated for a Grammy Award Best Rap Album, for his 2005 album Be. Lynn continued winning awards in 2007 too. He won his second award Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his single featuring Kanye West, Southside. Lynn is also known for having landed major parts for screen projects as an actor, like the American Gangster, Terminator Salvation, and romantic dramedy Just Wright. Lynn also played in family fare, like the animated Happy Feet Two, and Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green. Lynn also appeared on other projects like in the 2012 drama LUV, in the 2013 thrilled/caper Now You See Me, and in the 2014 Martin Luther King Jr. biopic Selma. For his part in Selma, Lynn won a Golden Globe for the song Glory, and also an Academy Award. His acting career also had him appear in films like Smokin’ Aces, Street Kings, Wanted, Happy Feet Two, Run All Night, and many other films.
