Dan Balan

Dan Balan is a Moldovan musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer known for his foundational role in the Eurodance band O-Zone and his subsequent successful solo career. After writing and producing the global phenomenon ‘Dragostea Din Tei,’ which topped charts in 32 countries and sold over 12 million copies worldwide, Dan Balan cemented his status as a visionary musician and songwriter. His foundational role in the Eurodance band O-Zone began in 1998, leading to their debut album ‘Dar unde e?ti?’ in 1999, where seven of its ten songs soared to the top of Moldovan radio charts. The group further earned the Best Music Video Award at the MTV Romania Music Awards for ‘Numai tu’ in 2002.

‘Dragostea Din Tei’ (also known as the ‘Numa Numa Song’), released in 2003, became a best-selling single across Europe and Japan in both 2004 and 2005. O-Zone’s subsequent album, ‘DiscO-Zone,’ released in 2004, achieved immense success across Europe, reaching number one in Japan and maintaining a presence in France’s top 200 for 36 weeks before the group disbanded in 2005 at the height of their popularity. Balan quickly transitioned into a solo career, initially exploring rock projects in Los Angeles before adopting the alter ego Crazy Loop and releasing the hit ‘Crazy Loop (Mm Ma Ma)’ in 2007. His unparalleled songwriting talent earned him a Grammy Award nomination in 2009 for co-writing T.I.
