Dark Funeral

Dark Funeral has maintained its position as a prominent figure in the Swedish black metal scene, releasing new music and performing globally since its formation. After releasing their self-titled EP on May 4, 1994, recorded at Unisound Studio with producer Dan Swanö, Dark Funeral rapidly established themselves as a formidable force within the black metal scene, performing their first live show in Oslo, Norway on the same day. In 1995, the band signed with No Fashion Records, leading to their seminal debut full-length album, ‘The Secrets of the Black Arts,’ released on January 28, 1996. This album, which was re-recorded at The Abyss Studio with Peter Tägtgren, gained international distribution through licensing deals with Metal Blade in North America and Mystic Productions in Poland.

That same year, Dark Funeral achieved a significant legal victory with a Supreme Court of Sweden ruling in their favor regarding royalties for their back-catalogue. Their album ‘Angelus Exuro pro Eternus’ was released in 2009, supported by a music video for the track ‘My Funeral.’ The band welcomed new vocalist Heljarmadr and bassist Natt in 2014, marked by the release of the single ‘Nail Them to the Cross,’ leading up to their 2016 album, ‘Where Shadows Forever Reign.’ In 2017, Jalomaah joined the lineup on drums, maintaining the band’s dynamic live presence. Dark Funeral completed recording their seventh full-length album, ‘We Are the Apocalypse,’ in 2021, which was subsequently released on March 18, 2022. This critically acclaimed album, featuring tracks like ‘Nightfall,’ ‘Let The Devil In,’ and ‘Leviathan,’ was mixed by Daniel Bergstrand and mastered by Paul Logus.

Throughout their extensive career, Dark Funeral has maintained an active global touring schedule, headlining festivals and undertaking tours across Europe, North America, South America, and Asia, consistently performing to a dedicated international fanbase.
