Romy Maxine Flores, known professionally as DeathbyRomy, was born in Los Angeles, California, on December 19, 1999. She began her musical journey early, writing her first song at the age of five and performing professionally by age 15. Her early career saw her self-releasing music, including her first single “Tiempo” in 2017 and her debut album “Monsters” in 2018. This period established her independent artistic foundation, featuring collaborations with artists like Lil B and Yung Bans, and allowed her to define her unique stage persona inspired by her personal experiences.

Her career progressed significantly in 2019 when she signed with UMG-owned Capitol Records. Under this label, she released the single “Problems” in October 2019, which quickly gained traction on TikTok, becoming her most streamed song across Spotify and YouTube. This breakthrough was followed by the EP “Love U – to Death” the same month and a remix of “Problems” featuring 24kGoldn in 2020. She continued to release singles, including those featured on the soundtrack of the film “Promising Young Woman.” In August 2021, she released her second studio album, “Songs For My Funeral,” which included “Problems” and other singles from the preceding year. Flores also collaborated with Ellise and Mothica on the track “Soul Sucker, Pt. 2” in 2021.

Since 2022, DeathbyRomy has returned to an independent model, partnering with ONErpm for her music releases. This shift marked a new phase, beginning with the EP “Entropy” released on October 28, 2022. She continued to release new material, such as the single “Hellhound” featuring Jazmin Bean in October 2023. Her debut album, “Hollywood Forever,” was released on April 25, 2025. In 2024, she released the single “XXXhibitionist,” which was featured on Spotify’s Misfits 2.0 and accumulated significant streams in its first month. Her upcoming album, “Hollywood Forever,” is described as a reflection on her experiences growing up in Los Angeles and navigating the music industry.
