Del Water Gap

Samuel Holden Jaffe, known professionally as Del Water Gap, embarked on his musical journey in Sharon, Connecticut, later attending the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University. Initially a drummer in a noise rock band, Jaffe transitioned to a solo project under the name Del Water Gap, inspired by the Delaware Water Gap. His early releases included the self-titled EP in 2013 and the EP “1 (646) 943 2672” in 2017, the latter notable for a burner phone number shared for fan interaction. In 2018 and 2019, he released singles “Laid Down My Arms,” “Chastain,” and “Theory of Emotion” under Terrible Records, followed by the live EP “Alive From Fresno.”

Jaffe’s career gained significant momentum in 2020 with the singles “Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat” and “Mariposa” released through Atlantic Records. “Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat” achieved widespread attention after a viral Instagram video by actresses Margaret Qualley and Kaitlyn Dever, culminating in an RIAA gold certification in 2024 for 500,000 sales. This period also saw collaborations with Maggie Rogers, co-writing and producing tracks “Want Want” and “Anywhere With You” for her album “Surrender,” and working with Claud on “My Body” and “Never Meant to Call.” His debut LP, “Del Water Gap,” was released in 2021 via Mom + Pop Music, initiating international tours.

His second album, “I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet,” released in 2023 under Mom + Pop, featured collaborations with artists like Clairo and Arlo Parks, and debuted on the Top Current Album Sales chart at number 97. Jaffe has since become a frequent opener for major artists, including Niall Horan’s 2024 “The Show: Live on Tour,” performing at venues like Madison Square Garden and the O2 Arena. He has also opened for Halsey, girl in red, and Holly Humberstone, and performed at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds, and Austin City Limits. A third studio album, “Chasing the Chimera,” is set for release in November 2025.
