About

Jade Elizabeth Bird was born in Hexham, Northumberland, on October 1, 1997. Her early life involved relocations to London, Germany, and Bridgend, South Wales, following her parents’ divorce when she was seven or eight. It was in Bridgend, living with her mother and grandmother, that Bird began writing songs and playing guitar at the age of twelve. She later attended the BRIT School in Croydon, graduating in 2016, where she performed multiple times weekly, refining her skills and stage presence. This period of dedicated artistic development laid the foundation for her professional music career.

Bird’s career began to accelerate in 2017 when a demo recorded in her friend’s bathroom led to a management deal and subsequently a signing with Glassnote Records. That same year, she toured the United States with Brent Cobb and opened for artists such as First Aid Kit and London Grammar. Her debut extended play, “Something American,” released in 2017, received positive critical feedback for its blend of folk and country influences. She was also recognized as a finalist for the BBC Sound Of 2018 award. In 2018, her debut single “Lottery” topped the Adult Alternative Songs chart, making her only the fifth female solo artist to achieve this since 2010. She followed this with singles “Uh Huh” and “Love Has All Been Done Before,” culminating in her self-titled debut album in April 2019. The album garnered favorable reviews and earned her nominations for Emerging Act Of The Year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards and multiple AIM Independent Music Awards, where she won International Breakthrough artist.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bird collaborated with Microsoft for the RE:Surface project, a virtual live-streamed concert, and headlined the Come Together Mental Health Music Festival. Her second album, “Different Kinds of Light,” released in August 2021, was produced by Dave Cobb and written in various locations including Japan, Mexico, Nashville, and New York, drawing on a mix of personal experiences and fictional narratives. Most recently, in early 2024, she released her third EP, “Burn the Hard Drive,” and in April 2025, announced her third studio album, “Who Wants to Talk About Love?”, which explores themes of love and loss, including the breakdown of her relationship with her former fiancé.
