Following the release of their debut single ‘Burn Them Down’ on January 8, 2015, Dream State swiftly established their presence in the alternative rock scene, releasing their debut EP ‘Consequences’ on November 20, 2015, recorded at The Boneyard Studio. The Welsh band continued to build momentum, leading to a pivotal year in 2017 with the release of the single ‘White Lies’ and their debut festival appearances at both Reading and Leeds Festivals. During this period, Dream State announced their signing with the prominent Australian independent record label UNFD. Under the UNFD imprint, Dream State released their second EP, ‘Recovery,’ on May 18, 2018.
The album achieved commercial success, reaching position 100 on the official UK Albums Chart. In support of the release, the band embarked on a successful UK headliner tour in 2019, and further expanded their reach by supporting other notable acts on European tours in 2019 and 2020. During this prolific period, the band saw some lineup transitions, including the departure of Danny Rayer in 2019 and Jamie Lee in 2020. A new iteration of Dream State was introduced in 2022, featuring Jake Bowen on bass, Tom Connolly on drums, and Jessie Powell on lead vocals, following the departures of CJ Gilpin and Rhys Wilcox.
This revitalized lineup immediately began releasing new material, including the single ‘Taunt Me’ and its accompanying music video in 2022. The band then released their ‘Untethered’ EP in February 2023, followed by the mini-album ‘Still Dreaming’ in January 2024, which continued their exploration of rock, metal, pop, and EDM elements. In 2023, Dream State completed a UK tour, a UK and Europe tour alongside As December Falls, and supported Funeral For a Friend at Cardiff Utilita Arena, maintaining a strong touring presence.
