Eric George Lopez, known professionally as Ericdoa, was born on September 7, 2002, in Monroe, Connecticut. Of Panamanian-Puerto Rican descent, Lopez was introduced to music at an early age when his grandfather gifted him his first guitar. He began his musical journey by recording and releasing music on platforms such as SoundCloud under the moniker killeric in 2018. His debut extended play (EP), “DOA,” was released in June 2019. Later in mid-2019, Lopez adopted the stage name Ericdoa and subsequently released his debut mixtape, “Public Target” (2019). His debut studio album, “COA,” followed in November 2020. Throughout his early career, Ericdoa’s style evolved, moving from dark, trap-influenced rap to sounds incorporating elements of emo and alternative rock.
In 2021, Ericdoa signed with Interscope Records, a significant milestone in his career. During this period, he released several singles, including “Fantasize,” “Back N Forth,” “Strangers,” “Fool4Love,” and “Lifeline.” A notable achievement was the inclusion of his song “Sad4Whattt” on the soundtrack for the second season of the HBO drama series “Euphoria.” Lopez also developed a frequent collaborative relationship with fellow musician Glaive, leading to several singles and the joint EP “Then I’ll Be Happy” in 2021. His second studio album, “Things with Wings,” was released on May 20, 2022, and supported by his first headlining tour, marking an expansion of his live performance presence.
Following a nine-month hiatus, Ericdoa returned on March 5, 2023, with the single “>one” (pronounced “greater than one”), a collaboration with Riot Games and their video game “Valorant.” He continued to release new music, including “Kickstand” on September 22, 2023, and “Dancinwithsomebawdy” on November 3, 2023, both accompanied by music videos. His third studio album, titled “DOA,” was released on January 19, 2024. A clip from one of his live streams, where he improvised a line about streamer Ninja and a “low taper fade” haircut, went viral on TikTok, further increasing his public profile. Lopez later departed from Interscope Records, citing dissatisfaction with label interference, particularly regarding his collaborations. He subsequently released the EP “Why Suffer For Us?” via Listen to the Kids and Santa Anna.
