South Korean girl group Everglow are one of K-pop’s hottest new acts, storming the charts since their launch in 2019 with singles including Hush and Adios. Comprising of members Aisha, E:U, Mia, Onda, Sihyeon and Yiren, the group have been nominated for multiple honours at the Asia Artist Awards, Genie Music Awards and Seoul Music Awards.
Prior to their formation, several members of Everglow had achieved fame in their own right, including Sihyeon on Mnet’s reality competition Produce 101, and Onda on the contest Idol School. In February 2019, Yuehua Entertainment announced the launch of the new group, and the six-piece made their first public performance on the Mnet music programme M Countdown. In March of that year, the group released their first single album, Arrival of Everglow, which hit No. 6 of South Korea’s Gaon Music Chart. The record featured the singles Bon Bon Chocolat, which debuted in the Top 5 in the US World charts and was ranked in Refinery29’s Top 20 K-Pop songs of the year, and Moon, which was named one of the best K-pop B-sides of the year by MTV.
Everglow’s second single album, Hush, built on their initial success, hitting the Top 5 in South Korea, and spawning three Top 10 Billboard World Digital Songs singles. In early 2020, they released their first extended play, Reminiscence, which charted in the US, Korea and Japan, and launched their first international tour. On television, the group have performed on MBC’s Show! Music Core, SBS’s Inkigayo, and KBS’s Music Bank, and have appeared in Mnet’s M2 and tvN’s When the Devil Calls Your Name.
