Girli

While attending East London Arts & Music college from 2014 to 2016, where she honed skills in beatmaking, rap, and drum and bass, Girli developed her distinct style of pop, electropop, pop punk, and pop rap. Her early career saw her release the singles ‘Girls Get Angry Too’ and ‘Girl I Met On The Internet’ in 2016. She then released her ‘Feel OK’ EP in 2017, followed by the ‘Hot Mess’ EP the same year, which notably incorporated pop punk elements. During this period, Girli toured extensively, supporting acclaimed artists such as Oscar in 2016 and Declan McKenna in 2017.

Her music consistently addressed themes of feminism, sexuality, queer culture, and mental health, establishing her unique voice in the industry. Building on her early success, Girli expanded her festival presence, performing at Latitude Festival in 2017 and the MTV Presents Gibraltar Calling festival in 2018. Her highly anticipated debut studio album, ‘Odd One Out,’ was released in 2019, four years after her inaugural single, further solidifying her artistic vision. Later that year, she released the single ‘Up & Down.’ Following her departure from PMR Records in 2019, Girli directly addressed her experiences with the label through the release of the single ‘Has Been’ in 2020, demonstrating her candid and resilient approach to her career.

In 2024, Girli marked another significant milestone with the release of her second full-length album, ‘Matriarchy.’ The album received critical acclaim, with RenownedforSound praising it as a ‘hard-hitting pop album,’ underscoring her continued impact and relevance in the pop landscape. Her distinctive blend of pop, electropop, pop punk, and pop rap, coupled with her unwavering commitment to themes of feminism, sexuality, queer culture, and mental health, continues to resonate with audiences and cement her status as a compelling and authentic voice in contemporary music.
