About

Green River Ordinance is an American rock band originating from Fort Worth, Texas, formed in 2000. The band consists of Josh Jenkins (vocals, guitar, piano), Geoff Ice (bass, background vocals), Denton Hunker (drums), Joshua Wilkerson (guitar, background vocals), and Jamey Ice (lead guitar, mandolin, banjo). Early in their career, around 2003, they performed opening gigs with Flickerstick in Texas. By 2005, Green River Ordinance had toured with Collective Soul and shared stages with Eisley and Mutemath. Their initial releases, a full-length album in 2005 and an EP in 2007, were released on the independent label For Mona.

In 2009, Green River Ordinance signed with Capitol Records, releasing their debut major-label album, “Out of My Hands,” through Virgin Records. This album reached No. 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The singles “Come On” and “On Your Own” achieved commercial success, reaching No. 17 and No. 37 respectively on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart in 2009 and 2010. During this period, their music was featured in over 20 television shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance,” “The Hills,” and “The Young and the Restless,” and their music videos were broadcast on MTV and VH1. The band also toured with prominent artists including Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, Switchfoot, Train, Lifehouse, David Cook, and Kris Allen. Their original song “Rise Up” was included on the “AT&T Team USA Soundtrack (2010)” alongside artists like Mariah Carey and Rascal Flatts. In 2010, after parting ways with EMI, the band independently released “The Morning Passengers – Acoustic Sessions EP” which charted at No. 3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and No. 39 on Billboard Independent Albums.

Demonstrating a strong connection with their fanbase, Green River Ordinance successfully used Kickstarter in 2011 to raise over $40,000 for their new album, “Under Fire,” released in 2012. This album featured the Texas Country song “Dancing Shoes” and “Heart of Me.” The band continued to release EPs, “Songs We Like From Before We Were Born” and “Waterhope,” before “Under Fire” reached No. 98 on the Billboard 200, No. 24 on Rock Albums, and No. 14 on Independent Albums. In 2014, they released the live album “The Collection: Live & Unplugged.” Their fourth full-length studio album, “Fifteen,” released in January 2016 through Residence Music, peaked at No. 103 on the Billboard 200, No. 8 on Rock Albums, No. 5 on Independent Albums, and No. 1 on Folk Albums. They have also engaged in significant charity work, launching their own charity site in 2010 and contributing their song “Don’t Give Up” to the International Justice Mission’s compilation album “Freedom.”
