Hot Mulligan is an American emo band that originated in Lansing, Michigan, in 2014. The band’s current lineup includes lead vocalist Nathan “Tades” Sanville, rhythm guitarist and co-lead vocalist Chris Freeman, lead guitarist Ryan Malicsi, bassist Jonah Kramer, and drummer Brandon Blakeley. Their early career involved releasing two EPs, “Fenton” and “Honest & Cunning,” through Save Your Generation Records in 2015. These releases established their presence within the emo scene.
The band’s career progressed with their signing to No Sleep Records in 2017, which led to the re-release of their EP “Opportunities.” This partnership further solidified their growing fanbase. In 2018, Hot Mulligan released their debut full-length album, “Pilot,” under No Sleep Records, followed by their second album, “You’ll Be Fine,” in 2020. These albums contributed to their recognition within the genre. In 2023, they signed with Wax Bodega and released their third album, “Why Would I Watch.” The band continued to release music, including the EP “Warmer Weather” in 2024, which featured singles such as “Stickers of Brian” and “End Eric Sparrow and The Life of Him.” In June 2025, Hot Mulligan announced their fourth album, “The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still,” which was released on August 22.
Throughout their career, Hot Mulligan has been active in touring and has cultivated a dedicated following. Their music has been described as a blend of emo, pop punk, post-hardcore, and Midwest emo. Their albums have charted, with “The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still” reaching position #175 on the Billboard 200. The band also composed a song titled “Prototheme” for AEW professional wrestler Kyle Fletcher, demonstrating their engagement beyond traditional music releases.
