JR JR, originally known as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., is an acclaimed indie-pop band hailing from Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 2009 by Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein, the band quickly gained recognition for their innovative sound and engaging performances. Their journey began in Zott’s basement, where they recorded their first tracks with a playful spirit and a commitment to artistic freedom. This unique approach resonated with audiences, leading to their first EP, “Horsepower,” released in 2010, which showcased their talent through tracks like “Nothing But Our Love” and a cover of Brian Wilson’s “God Only Knows.”

In 2011, JR JR released their debut full-length album, “It’s A Corporate World,” through Warner Bros. Records, further solidifying their place in the indie music scene. The album received critical acclaim and featured popular singles such as “Morning Thought” and “Simple Girl.” Their ability to blend catchy melodies with thoughtful lyrics earned them accolades from major music publications, establishing them as one of the best new bands of the year.

The band’s evolution continued with the release of their EP “Patterns” in 2013, which included the infectious single “If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor).” This period marked a significant growth in their artistry, culminating in their second studio album, “The Speed of Things,” which showcased their collaboration with renowned artist Paul Simon and further expanded their musical horizons.

In 2015, the band rebranded as JR JR to eliminate confusion with the NASCAR driver, a move that reflected their desire to carve out a distinct identity. Their self-titled album featured the single “Gone,” demonstrating their continued evolution and commitment to creating captivating music. With a discography that includes multiple EPs and singles, JR JR remains a vibrant force in the indie-pop genre, captivating audiences with their dynamic sound and engaging live performances.
