Kobi Peretz

Kobi Peretz, born Yaakov Peretz on October 28, 1975, in Tel Aviv, Israel, is a prominent Israeli Mizrahi singer. The youngest of ten children and of Moroccan Jewish descent, Peretz embarked on his musical journey in 1992. His early career saw the release of albums such as “You Are Like A Fire” in 1995 and “I Live The Way I Want” in 2001, steadily building a foundation within the Israeli music landscape. His style, characterized by a fusion of Mizrahi and dance-pop elements, quickly resonated with audiences.

A significant turning point in Peretz’s career came with the release of his hit song “Balbeli Oto” (Confuse Him). This track, part of his 2003 album of the same name, propelled him to widespread recognition. He continued to release successful albums, including “Meshuga Alaeh” (Crazy About You) in 2004, “All That’s In Me” in 2006, and “How Much Love” in 2008. These works further cemented his status as a leading figure in Israeli mainstream pop music. Peretz has been known for his live performances, including major shows at venues like Zappa Tel Aviv and Zappa Park HaYarkon, and has sold millions of records throughout his career.

His discography includes later albums like “Written in the Heavens” in 2012 and “C’est La Vie” in 2014. Despite facing a legal challenge for tax evasion in 2016, leading to an 18-month prison sentence in 2017, Peretz has maintained a presence in the music industry.
