Lee Su Hyun is a South Korean singer, actress, and radio DJ, known for her diverse contributions to the entertainment industry.
Global skincare brand Amorepacific's Laneige appointed Lee Su-hyun of the popular sibling duo AKMU as its new ambassador in Korea.
Lee was chosen to be a model for Korean beauty platform Glow Pick. She also participated in composing and singing the song for the commercial.
Lee Su Hyun was born on May 4, 1999, in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Her early life included moving to Mongolia at aged 10 with her missionary parents, where she was homeschooled. This period, marked by financial difficulties, became a turning point as she and her brother, Lee Chan-hyuk, discovered their musical talents out of boredom. She learned piano and her brother learned guitar. During a temporary return to South Korea due to a visa issue, she auditioned for K-pop Star 2, with her brother, as the duo AKMU. They won the competition and subsequently signed with YG Entertainment in 2014, releasing their debut album, “Play”. Their early success included hit singles like “200%” and “Give Love”, and various awards including “Best Pop Album” at the Korean Music Awards.
Her career expanded beyond AKMU. In November 2014, she formed the sub-unit Hi Suhyun with Lee Hi, releasing the digital single “I’m Different,” which topped domestic charts. In 2017, she made her acting debut in the Netflix series “Temporary Idol” and became a regular cast member on OnStyle’s “Relationship Appeal.” She also launched a successful YouTube channel, “Leesuhyun,” in 2017, achieving a Gold Play Button by July 2019. Further television appearances included “Begin Again” (seasons 2, 3, and 4) from 2018 onwards and a role as a judge on JTBC’s “Superband” in 2019.
In 2018, Lee Su Hyun became a radio DJ for KBS Cool FM’s “Volume Up,” for which she received the “Radio DJ Award” at the 16th KBS Entertainment Awards. She also contributed to several drama soundtracks, including “Mr. Sunshine” (2018) and “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” (2020), and sang the Korean version of “Reflection” for Disney’s 2020 live-action film “Mulan.” Her solo debut in October 2020 with the digital single “Alien” further showcased her individual artistry. She has appeared in various TV shows as a guest and regular member, continuously demonstrating her versatility in the entertainment industry.
