Leonardo Aguilar

Leonardo Antonio Aguilar Álvarez was born on August 15, 1999, in Mexico City, Mexico, into a family renowned in Mexican music, often referred to as “La Dinastía Aguilar.” He is the son of singer Pepe Aguilar and Aneliz Álvarez-Alcala, and the grandson of legendary Mexican singer-actors Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre. Aguilar holds dual citizenship in Mexico and the United States, a legacy shared with his father who was born in San Antonio, Texas. From a young age, Leonardo, alongside his younger sister Ángela Aguilar, began accompanying their father on tours across Latin America.

His musical career commenced officially in 2012 at the age of twelve, with the release of “Nueva Tradición.” This collaborative album with his sister Ángela featured four songs performed by each sibling. Following this, the siblings, joined by their youngest sister Majo Aguilar, released the single “Lo Busqué.” The music video for “Lo Busqué” quickly garnered over 40 million views. In December 2016, Aguilar released his debut solo album entitled “Gallo Fino.” Produced by his father, the album received a nomination for Best Norteño Album at the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Awards in 2017. His single “Compromiso Descartado” from the same album was also nominated for Best Regional Mexican Song.

Aguilar has continued to advance his career, releasing further albums such as “Y lo Volví a Hacer” in 2023 and “Soy Como Quiero Ser” in 2024. He has also collaborated with other prominent artists within the Mexican music genre. His consistent work within regional Mexican music, blending traditional and contemporary styles, has solidified his position as a respected and recognized artist.
