Matthew Maltese is a British-Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer whose career has flourished since his debut in 2015. He first gained attention with his single “Even If It’s a Lie,” which showcased his unique blend of indie pop, rock, and chamber pop. Following this initial success, Maltese signed with Café Bleu Recordings, a subdivision of Atlantic Records, and released his first EP, “In a New Bed,” in 2016, further establishing his presence in the music industry.
In 2017, Maltese released the critically acclaimed single “As the World Caves In,” which gained renewed popularity on TikTok in 2021, leading to its certification as Silver in the UK for selling over 200,000 units. His debut album, “Bad Contestant,” released in June 2018, was produced by Jonathan Rado of Foxygen, marking a significant milestone in his career. This was followed by the release of his second album, “Krystal,” in 2019, which he recorded and produced in his bedroom studio, demonstrating his artistic versatility and commitment to his craft.
