Neon Hitch was born on May 25, 1986, in Kingston upon Thames, England, and later moved to Nottingham. At ten, she began writing poetry, which evolved into songwriting. At sixteen, she spent several years in India before moving to London to pursue a music career.
Her musical journey began with a signing to Mike Skinner and Ted Mayhem’s label, The Beats. Later, she was discovered on MySpace by Benny Blanco, who brought her to New York City to collaborate. This collaboration led to a music publishing deal with EMI and a record deal with Warner Bros. Records. In 2010, she officially signed with Warner Bros. and commenced recording her debut album, “Beg, Borrow and Steal,” with Benny Blanco and Greg Kurstin. During this period, she released promotional singles like “Get Over U” (co-written by Sia) and “Poisoned with Love,” which was featured in “Teen Wolf” and “Now That’s What I Call Music! 40.” She also gained prominence for her feature on Gym Class Heroes’ “Ass Back Home,” which reached number twelve on the Billboard Hot 100.
