Princess Nokia gained significant recognition with her 2017 studio album, 1992 Deluxe, an expanded version of her 2016 mixtape 1992, which achieved commercial success by reaching number 25 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. Her professional music career began in 2010 with the release of ‘Destiny’ under the moniker Wavy Spice, followed by tracks such as ‘Bitch I’m Posh’ and ‘YAYA.’ In 2014, she adopted the stage name Princess Nokia and released her debut studio album, Metallic Butterfly. This was quickly followed by the mixtape Honeysuckle in 2015, solidifying her presence in the experimental music scene. Continuing her prolific output, Princess Nokia released the mixtape A Girl Cried Red in 2018.
The same year, she expanded her media presence by launching a radio show on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio titled ‘The Voices in My Head with Princess Nokia,’ offering insights into her artistic perspective. Demonstrating her versatility beyond music, 2018 also saw her take on a significant role as an ambassador for Maison Margiela’s Mutiny fragrance. Her acting debut followed in 2019 with a role in the film Angelfish. In 2020, she showcased her genre-fluid approach by releasing two albums simultaneously, Everything Sucks and Everything Is Beautiful, which further underscored her dynamic range.
Looking ahead to 2025, Princess Nokia has signed with Artist House, marking a new chapter in her career. She has already released two singles, ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ and ‘Blue Velvet,’ earlier in the year, building anticipation for her next major project. Her highly anticipated album, GIRLS, is scheduled for release on October 10, 2025, promising to continue her exploration of identity, feminism, and New York City culture.
