Raef Al Hasan Rafa stands as a luminary in Bangladesh’s vibrant music scene, having etched an indelible mark as a versatile singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is notably recognized as the founding member of the groundbreaking band ‘AvoidRafa’. Renowned for his rhythmic prowess, Rafa first garnered attention as the dynamic drummer of Aurthohin and the iconic Cryptic Fate, setting stages ablaze with his percussive finesse.
Born into a musically inclined family, Rafa’s journey was shaped by the influence of his elder brother Saadi Muktafi, a prominent guitarist and founder of Kal. Raised in Bangladesh with a stint in Libya during his youth, Rafa’s diverse cultural upbringing imbued him with a unique perspective that enriches his musical expressions.
Despite an initial reluctance, Rafa’s passion for music flourished during his formative years at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School in Dhaka. While early exposure to Nazrul Geeti and the harmonium left an impression, it was the allure of rock and metal that ignited his creative fervor.
Beyond his instrumental prowess, Rafa’s musical odyssey encompasses a multitude of projects, including his roles in Severe Dementia, Kral, and The Joint Family. As the driving force behind AvoidRafa, he continually pushes artistic boundaries, crafting a sonic tapestry that resonates with audiences far and wide.
Offstage, Rafa finds solace in the companionship of his wife, Samira Kamil, who serves as a steadfast pillar of support in his artistic endeavors.
