Considered one of the most versatile singers in the Hindi film industry, Sonu Nigam is a live performer as well as a playback singer, composer and actor.
Having trained as a singer since a young age, Nigam travelled to Mumbai at the age of 18 to pursue his Bollywood singing career. He has since gone on to release a host of both pop, Hindu, Islamic devotional and Buddhist albums, performing in languages from Hindi to Punjab and English. Following the success of his albums, Nigam has enjoyed international tours around the world and was the first solo Indian singer to host concerts in both Germany and Canada. Nigam has also provided playback singing for both Hindi and Kannada language films, including the 2003 romantic comedy Kal Ho Naa Ho and the 2004 romantic film Monalisa. His rise to fame has since seen Nigam collaborate with Britney Spears on her remix of I Wanna Go in 2011 and in 2013 he was twice ranked No. 1 on the US Billboard Uncharted charts. Also a notable actor, Nigam starred in the film Love in Nepal and was the voice of the lead character in the Hindi dubbed version of Aladdin.
Of his other work, Nigam has become well-known as a TV host and celebrity judge, having appeared on Indian Idol, STAR Voice of India and X-Factor (India). Of his many accolades, Nigam was named Best Playback Singer in the 2013 Filmfare Awards South and won Indie Pop Song of the Year for “Aye Jahaan Aasmaan” at the 2016 Mirchi Music Awards.
