Tegan and Sara

Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin, identical twin sisters, formed the indie pop duo Tegan and Sara in 1998 in Calgary, Alberta. Both are songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. After releasing several demos on cassette, they debuted their album, “Under Feet Like Ours,” in 1999 and were subsequently signed by Neil Young’s Vapor Records. They have since released ten studio albums, with “Crybaby” being their most recent in 2022. Their career has seen them transition from early indie roots to achieving mainstream success, marked by Grammy nominations and Juno Awards.

The duo’s work extends beyond music into other creative and advocacy areas. Their 2011 video album, “Get Along,” earned a Grammy nomination. In 2014, they collaborated with The Lonely Island on “Everything Is Awesome” for “The Lego Movie” soundtrack, which received an Oscar nomination. Their memoir, “High School,” was released in 2019 and later adapted into a television series for Amazon Freevee in 2022. Throughout their career, Tegan and Sara have consistently used their platform to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, establishing the Tegan and Sara Foundation to support LGBTQ girls and women.

Over more than two decades, Tegan and Sara have toured extensively, performing at major festivals and alongside notable artists. They are recognized for their engaging onstage banter, often sharing personal stories and political commentary. Beyond their musical and literary endeavors, they have engaged in various collaborations, both individually and as a duo, contributing to other artists’ projects and writing songs for films and television. Their sustained activism and career longevity underscore their impact in both the music industry and social advocacy.
